Gait disorders are one of the most common symptoms in neurologists. In neurological inpatients, more than 60% of gait disorders are diagnosed as stroke, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), spinal cord injury (SCI) and spinal column disease. Running deficits following damage to a particular neuroanatomical system are often variable and non-specific, making it difficult to make an accurate diagnosis and provide optimal treatment. For a better understanding of these diseases, Balgrist University Hospital has set up a
gait laboratory.
To give patients a realistic feeling of space and walking, a virtual and interactive walking surface was created in addition to a walking aid. AVS supported the project with the following services:
- Planning of the Virtual Reality Solution in close cooperation with the University of Zurich
- Installation and commissioning of the projection solution
